Auburn, Kansas, since 2001
Eleven services, two halves, one office
Stauffer builds landscapes and then keeps them. Most properties in Topeka and Lawrence end up wanting both, which is the reason the two sides have always sat under one roof rather than being handed between contractors.
Design and build
The stone side
Design and construction work, drawn in the office after the property has been walked, measured and photographed. Natural stone, Unilock pavers and segmental concrete block, installed by ICPI certified installers.

Most asked for
Retaining Walls
Cut stone, segmental block and natural stone walls that hold a grade, drain properly and give you level ground to plant into.

Paver Patios and Walkways
Unilock pavers and natural stone laid on a base built for Kansas clay, with seat walls and fire features where the room needs them.

Hardscapes
Fire pits, built in barbecues and outdoor kitchens, stone stairs and structures. The built half of an outdoor room.

Softscapes
Trees, shrubs and perennials chosen for Kansas conditions, with mulch, edging and beds laid out around how water actually moves.
Maintain
The lawn side
The programme that keeps the ground alive through a Kansas year. Mowing set to growth, a four season fertiliser and weed programme under a state applicator licence, aeration, seed, sod, irrigation and clean ups at both ends.

Most asked for
Sod Installation
Graded, prepped ground and tight seamless sod for new construction, worn out turf and the bare patches seed never fixed.

Custom Lawn Mowing
A cutting schedule set by how your grass is actually growing, with deck height adjusted through the season and clean edges every visit.

Irrigation System Installation and Maintenance
Built and repaired with Rain Bird and Hunter Industries irrigation parts, by a licensed installer who is backflow certified.

Fertilizer and Herbicide Applications
A four season programme timed to your grass type and the Kansas growing season, applied by a licensed technician.

Lawn Aeration
Core aeration that opens up compacted clay so water, air and fertiliser reach the root zone instead of running off it.

Power Raking and Overseeding
Thatch pulled out and fresh seed worked into real soil contact, so the new grass actually takes.

Spring and Fall Yard Clean-up
Leaves, thatch, fallen sticks and winter damage cleared out of the beds and off the turf at both ends of the season.
Not sure which one you need
Describe the problem and we will tell you which job it is
A slope that will not hold, a patio that never dried out right, a lawn that browns off every July. Plenty of these turn out to be one problem wearing a different coat, usually drainage or compaction, and the fix is not always the service people expect.
